Happy Birthday, David Sedaris!

David Sedaris is one of my favorite authors. He specializes in essays and stories about his life. I think that's why I prefer listening ot him rather than read him. He's published five collections of essays and is a regular contributor to The New Yorker. His work is personal, focusing on his upbringing, his drug use, his Greek grandmother, and his obsessive compulsive behaviors. While he is considered a humorist, some of his more recent work is sad with a hint of humor, particularly when he writes about his mother's alcoholism and his sister's death.

But, in the spirit of Christmas, here's David reading one of my favorites.
