Beach House for Rent by Mary Alice Monroe
Cara has a beach house and needs to supplement her income. Enter Heather. Cara rents her lovely beach home to Heather, an introverted artist who just wants to be left alone, for the entire summer. Everything is going as planned when tragedy strikes and Cara wishes to return to her beloved beach house. Heather stands her ground and refuses to leave. So, they become the unlikely roommates.
And, unlike my experiences with roommates, this pairing seems to actually work out. Good for them. There's nothing worse than a terrible roommate. I would know, I've had several. I'm haunted still.
The Anti-Procrastination Mindset by Harry Heijligers
I've been meaning to read this book since February. Ha! Anyway, it's supposed to help you change your mindset and actually finish what you start. I should probably read it. *looks at growing pile of unfinished knitting projects* Here's the thing, I'm an idea person. I have a lot of them. And, some of them are even good! So, I start it. Then I think of eleven other things, get excited about it, and start something else. It's a vicious cycle.
What's JP Up To?:
He's now compiling his Book Shots into normal sized books and republishing them. So, you can read four JP shorts in case one shot isn't enough for you. If you are the one and done type, no worries! Tiny Book Shots are still available. And they have the most ridiculous titles, but what do you expect from the guy who wrote a series about children who are two percent bird? Two. Percent. A completely useless percentage of bird. I'm not even sure how you would determine that you are two percent bird. Like, what clued them in? These are actual questions I have for the JP fans out there. For answers, tune into our yet to be recorded podcast, How Many Havishams?*, where I will interview/berate a real life James Patterson fan.
Our Pick of the Week:
Lethal White by Robert Galbraith
This book isn't even out yet, but I feel confident recommending it. So, get your summer books out of the way and get ready for this one. If you haven't read the first three books in the series, what are you waiting for? Lethal White won't be available until September 18th, so you have plenty of time to get through the first three. They are so, so good. I love detective novels; Robert Galbraith does not disappoint. Probably because Robert Galbraith is actually J.K. Rowling and there is nothing disappointing about her.
*How Many Havishams? is coming soon! Personally, I have great expectations.
